Production: Standstill or Resumption? Tips from the BUSS Service Team

Due to the current situation, production facilities around the world have come to a standstill. However, operations will gradually resume, and we will gradually return to normal.

Checklist for Resuming Production Operations

When restarting your BUSS system after a shutdown, in addition to a preliminary inspection—in accordance with the operating instructions—special attention should be paid to the following steps:

  1. Check the “Emergency Stop” and “Safety Switch” functions
  2. Verify that wear on process components is still within tolerance limits
  3. Check the color and oil level of the gear lubricant
  4. Inspect filters and hose connections in the oil and water circuits of the temperature control units and connections to the kneader
  5. Perform a leak test on the shaft seal
  6. Check upstream and downstream silos as well as all conveyor lines for residues and clean them if necessary
  7. Check the gearbox oil seals for leaks
  8. Once the process section of the machine has reached operating temperature, the temperature should be maintained for a while to ensure that any material residues in the process chamber melt.
