BUSS Co-Kneader Technology stands for the original BUSS Co-Kneaders – patented since 1945 and today one of the BUSSLIST Group’s technology platforms. For over 80 years, BUSS co-kneaders have set the standard for compounding temperature- and shear-sensitive materials in the plastics, aluminum, and food industries, as well as in paints and coatings.

Our core competence lies in customer- and application-specific solutions for demanding materials: from highly filled compounds to fiber-reinforced and temperature-sensitive plastics – with a precision that twin-screw extruders simply cannot match. The Co-Kneader working principle Your key benefits

The continuous reciprocating motion, combined with the stationary kneading pins, ensures intensive distributive mixing while maintaining gentle processing. The result: homogeneous compounds, even at the highest filler loads.

The shear gap can be precisely adjusted along the entire length of the process. This protects sensitive fibers, enables the processing of shear-sensitive polymers, and provides full control over compound quality.

Precise control of shear and temperature conditions minimizes thermal stress—a critical factor for temperature-sensitive formulations such as PVC or powder coatings.

Each section of the processing zone performs a precisely defined function—from the feed section through the processing stage to the discharge zone. This reduces residence times and prevents material damage.

Controlled residence time distribution and efficient degassing ensure consistent product quality.

Processing zones, screw geometries, and kneading pins can be configured to suit specific applications. One Co-Kneader, many recipes.
