Technology Cooling Cooling systems for the continuous cooling, solidification, and comminution of viscous melts.

Excellencein Cooling

BBA Cooling Systems. Where hot melt becomes a finished product.

For over 40 years, BBA Cooling Technology has been a leader in the continuous cooling, solidification, and flaking of viscous melts in the process industry. As one of BUSSLIST Group’s three technology platforms, BBA excels where the thermal process ends and the material must be brought into its final form in a controlled manner.

Whether powder coatings, active pharmaceutical ingredients, toner, or specialty chemicals—BBA cooling systems are compact, efficient, and designed to meet the specific requirements of each industry. From laboratory scale up to throughputs of over 3,000 kg/h. Developed and manufactured in Switzerland.

BBA Cooling Technology Your key benefits

BBA cooling systems combine a compact design with optimized heat transfer. Closed-loop water circuits ensure an energy-efficient, clean process—even at high throughput rates.

The calender, cooling section, and crusher unit can be configured to suit your specific application. Belt widths, cooling sections, and throughput capacities are scalable—from small-scale production to large-scale plants.

For pharmaceutical and life science applications, roller coolers in GMP-compliant designs made from FDA-approved materials are available. The highest hygiene and safety standards are built in as standard.

From lab-scale roller coolers with a capacity of 20 kg/h to steel belt coolers with a throughput of over 3,200 kg/h—BBA covers the entire spectrum from process development to industrial production.

The BBA Test Center in Strengelbach, CH, offers a variety of refrigeration systems for testing and pilot production. Through the rental program, systems can be tested under real-world production conditions—before an investment decision is made.

The BBA Cooling Technology

Find the best matching BBA Cooler

The core product. Hot melt is rolled out into a thin film, pressed against a cooled roller, and fed into a granulator. Compact, efficient, and available for applications ranging from lab-scale to large-scale production at over 2,200 kg/h.

Robust, modular belt cooler. The product rests loosely on the steel belt and is cooled on the underside by water spray. Throughputs up to 3,200 kg/h, belt widths up to 1,500 mm.

Designed specifically for pharmaceutical requirements. GMP standards, FDA-approved materials, and the highest level of hygiene. Compatible with standard extruder sizes.

Two models: CAT for maximum cooling capacity with minimal space requirements, and TopCooler TC as a top-mounted cooler to boost the performance of existing steel strip coolers. Can be connected in a modular system.

Cooling applications Precise cooling for demanding industries

Our cooling systems are used wherever hot melts need to be solidified and flaked in a controlled manner: powder coatings, toners, active pharmaceutical ingredients, fine and specialty chemicals, and life science products. Every industry has its own specific requirements regarding cooling speed, particle size, and product purity—BBA Cooling Technology delivers the right solution.
